We took the first steps toward redecorating James’ room. As I mentioned before, he got a new bunk bed before we went on vacation. I thought James and I would have a difficult time agreeing on a new wall color for his room. We sat down together with my Pantone Book of Color, which I believe should be in every household, and started the process of finding colors that appeal to his almost 11 year old self that don’t make my contemporary, minimalistic self cringe.
Anyway… after a few moments with our eyes fixed to this book, we had come up with about 8 colors that he really liked and went well with his new bed. Then, we looked back at those colors and weeded them out one by one until we reached the top two color choices – Marigold and something Lime…. it’s not called Something Lime, of course, I just can’t remember the first something part in the lime color. Understand?
So, I had long since made my first choice for the wall color. It doesn’t take me long usually to decide these things… they just sort of speak to me. And one color in particular had spoken to me from the beginning, but I wanted James to help make the selection as it will be the color he wakes up to every morning until…. well, until…. for a long time, okay?
Anyway, we are down to these two colors and his mind is locked. He likes both colors. So, in my infinite wisdom and diminishing patience, I say, “Close your eyes and imagine these two colors. Which one do you want to see when you wake up in the morning?” So, he closes his eyes for a brief moment and then blurts out, “Marigold!”
Oh, praise all things good and beautiful. Marigold was my first choice, too!
So we take our Pantone Book of Color to Home Depot to find a color that matches the one we’ve picked. And find one we did. It’s called something Mango. It’s not actually called Something Mango… I just can’t remember the something part in the name. Understand?
Anyway, call it whatever you like.
Okay, it’s really just orange. But a lovely shade of orange, indeed.
P.S. The lucky winner of yesterday’s giveaway is….
Melinda from …down the center of my mind…
Yes, her number was called… okay, more like rolled. Since there was only 6 entries, I rolled a die & came up with the number 2.
