I am a cookbook fanatic. Seriously, I’m a sucker for them. My husband practically has to bind my arms behind my back to keep me from reaching for them at the checkout… serious impulse buy syndrome. I’m a child… this I know. Anyway, it was very difficult for me to decide which cake recipe to share (seein’ as how I’ve got about 5 gazillion of them!). And in the end it all came down to what ingredients I had on hand… oh, and I didn’t even end up using a cookbook.
This recipe is my own.
PARISIAN ALMOND CREME CAKE – DUSTED WITH COFFEE
This cake is extremely easy… it’s kinda like cheating.
Take a boxed vanilla cake mix (I used french vanilla)…
Follow package directions except you will substitute 1/2 cup of the water for 1/2 cup of Coffee-mate’s Parisian Almond Creme liquid coffee creamer. Bake according to package directions.
Note: You can do this with ANY liquid coffee creamer. The flavor possibilities are endless!
Once your cake has cooled, frost with Duncan Hines White Chocolate Almond frosting. Or, if you prefer to make your own frosting, just add the creamer to your favorite frosting recipe in place of milk (1 tablespoon at a time as the creamer can become overpowering).
Once your cake is frosted, dust the top with your favorite coffee. This will add a very subtle coffee flavor that blends perfectly with the creamer in the recipe.
This cake is a sublime coffee companion.
And makes for a yummy breakfast, too!
