I had planned on posting a recipe for a cake today, but when I heard about this I thought it was far more important.
Yes, Cora’s Playground is finally being built.
To GOD be the glory.
A little more than 3 months have passed since sweet Cora went home to be with the Lord. Though time can soften the grief Joel & Jess McClenahan carry in their hearts, time will never be able to conceal their amazing story of faith and trust in their Heavenly Father during a time that can only be described as a parent’s worst nightmare.
If you are not yet familiar with the McClenahan’s story, I strongly urge you to visit their blog here, and start from the beginning. It may seem daunting, but you will not regret a second spent on learning about this precious family.
Anyway, over $40,000 has been raised for Cora’s Playground! This is amazing, by the way, as much of this money has been raised by people that have never met the McClenahans but were deeply touched by their story – people like you and me. Though $40,000 is enough to get started on the work, more needs to come in to complete this project.
If you’d like to help build Cora’s Playground you can visit the McClenahan’s blog (linked above) and click on the pink button at the top of their blog. This will take you to an etsy page where beautifully handcrafted items are being sold in honor of Cora & the profits are donated to the Cora Playground.
Also, my cupcake loving friend, Kristen from Dancing in the Margins, will be hosting a Book Boutique from June 18th-20th. She came up with this brilliant plan to host a huge book selling bloggy bonanza where you can list your used (in good condition and Christ-honoring) books for sale on your blog in effort to clear off those shelves & make room for new books you’d like to read. Visit her blog (linked above) for all the fab details. Keep these dates in mind even if you’re not planning on selling books, as this will be an excellent shopping opportunity, too.
I’m mentioning Kristen’s Book Boutique in this post for two reasons: 1. She’s a fabulous friend with fabulous ideas, and 2. I will be linking up and selling my used books and Scholastic Children’s books in honor of Cora. I was planning on using the money from the book sales to purchase next year’s homeschool curriculum, however, I’ve decided to donate 50% of all the money that comes in from my book sales to Cora’s Playground.
If you’d like to help build Cora’s Playground and have some extra books taking up shelf space, then I encourage you to link up on June 18th for some book selling fun and donate a portion of your profits to the Cora Playground project.
Wishing you a blessed day!
And if you’re a mommy – spend some extra time with those precious ones today… in honor of Cora.
