If you would like to start at the beginning of this adventure then go back and read this, and then this. It’ll only take a few minutes to get all caught up on this pinktastic story!
When the day of our departure finally arrived, the two girls (Avery my daughter and Whitney my niece) were super excited about getting their Barbie adventure underway, as you can imagine! As I mentioned before, Mattel had arranged to send a car for us at 10:30 Friday morning.
And send a car they did…
…along with a cordial man to drive it. I must confess that this particular aspect of our retreat was not exciting to me. I would have much rather driven myself, but the girls found this a thrill. Unfortunately, before we even got onto the freeway I found myself getting rather car sick. So much so, in fact, that I was afraid I was getting the stomach flu. I don’t usually get car sick, so this was very strange. But, oh, did I think I was going to hurl in the back seat for the entire hour it took us to get to Manhattan Beach! Blech! Praise God I was able to hold it together. I kept praying that it wasn’t the flu, and that I would not ruin this once in a lifetime experience for the girls by spending the next 24 hours in the bathroom. Imagine my relief when, nearly the moment I stepped out of the car, I began feeling better.
As we walked into the lobby of our fabulously posh hotel, we were greeted with much pinktatsic fan fair! Dozens of bright pink balloons were decorating the lobby entrance, and as I checked us in, the girls were given a large Barbie gift bag filled with goodies. Awesome way to begin a little Barbie princess’ adventure! The girls were bubbling over! They dove head first into those goodie bags the moment we got to our room.
The remainder of this 1st pinktastic day was spent exploring Manhattan Beach a little on foot, shopping, and slurping down root beer floats the size of Maine. There was much girlish silliness to be had, but we were back in our room by 7:30 to watch a Barbie movie, and get our beauty sleep for the festivities that awaited us the next day!
Saturday was our big day with Barbie at the Barbie Headquarters! It was beyond anything I could have expected and I’m still trying to do it justice in words and pictures. Please come back on Friday to read all about the girls’ Barbie adventure and enter to win my Pinktastic Whimsy Giveaway! I will be giving away a mother/daughter set, so you won’t want to miss it!
See you truffles Friday!
